At tiendadefruta.com we lovingly grow different varieties of mangoes throughout the year so we can offer you a wide variety in the period between June and October.
Outside this window, the mangoes we have available will enter their optimum ripening stage, so we recommend you contact us beforehand so that we can advise you on the variety available.
In Europe there is a false belief that it can be harmful, but research has shown that eating the fruit at this stage is even more beneficial.
The fact that unripe mangoes have more antioxidants and vitamin C than ripe mangoes makes them effective in protecting the body against cancer and cardiovascular diseases.
Unlike ripe mangoes, which are sweet and juicy, green or unripe mangoes have a sour taste due to the presence of oxalic, citric, malic and succinic acids.
In Asia and several Latin American countries, delicious dishes are made with green mangoes.
In Vietnam, for example, the mango is sliced very thinly and seasoned with sugar, red hot peppers, salt and fish sauce. In Asia the twist of the sweet aftertaste is very popular and is intended to stimulate the different taste buds. This combination of spicy, salty and sweet is very addictive!
In the Philippines, Ensaladang Mangga is one of the most popular side dishes for fried or grilled food. It is best eaten with white rice. Personally, I consider it an appetite stimulant. Just combine mango, onion and tomato in a bowl, pour some lime juice and add some prawn paste.
